Suggestion: Refactor to use new System.Threading.Lock

Please consider a .NET 10 target and refactor the internal locking to use [`System.Threading.Lock`](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/api/system.threading.lock?view=net-9.0) primitive for improved performance.
