Web Anniversary

11 Mar 2014

Today I would like to celebrate the anniversaries of the World Wide Web (25 years) and W3C (20 years).

This is the message that I sent to our friends at W3C. Video version of this message (and the one from IAB) appears below as well.

Over the past 25 years, the World Wide Web has demonstrated the amazing power of open standards to connect people and empower innovation—as the Internet itself has grown and evolved to connect billions of people and devices around the world.

The Internet Engineering Task Force community is thrilled to join in the celebration of this remarkable success, and looks forward to the next 25 years—and beyond.

Jari Arkko, IETF Chair
